Flame Moss

Flame Moss is one of those plants that just looks REALLY cool once it gets growing. It gets its name from the way the fronds twist and grow upward, giving it a flame-like appearance that's completely different from most other aquarium mosses.

It's easy to grow in just about any aquarium and doesn't need high lighting or CO2. It does grow pretty slowly, so give it some time! Once established, it can cover driftwood and rocks and create a really unique look in your aquascape.

Flame Moss is also a great option for shrimp tanks. Its dense growth provides extra surface area for shrimp to graze on and gives baby shrimp plenty of little places to hide.

Planting Flame Moss

Flame Moss doesn't need to be planted in substrate. Attach it to driftwood, rocks, or other aquarium decor and let it grow in over time. Its upward, twisting growth makes it especially cool on hardscape where you can really see that flame-like shape.
